Subject. Economic processes in domestic and global food markets. Objective: To identify challenges and reserves of Ukraine's participation in global food value chains . Purpose. Identification of trends and prospects for Ukraine's participation in global food value chains. Methods. To carry out research, the following methods were used: dialectical, statistical – for the analysis of export-import operations, the activities of production units and retail; systemic generalization – for the systematization of trends and prospects for Ukraine's participation in global food value chains and the construction of an appropriate conceptual scheme; comparisons – for the comparison of Ukraine's share in world grain exports and the activities of retail chains. Results. The directions and measures of influence on value chains were identified. Trends in Ukraine's export-import operations in the food industry were compared, the role of foreign companies in the activities of production holdings and the formation of retail networks was assessed. A functional scheme of global food value chains was constructed taking into account trends and prospects in Ukraine, which contains components of production and processing of raw materials, transportation, storage and sale of products to domestic and foreign markets, as well as a detailed description of the contributions of Ukraine and foreign partners to the economies of countries through global food value chains. Measures of agricultural policy were proposed to stimulate global food value chains with the participation of Ukraine. Scope of the results. Intended for researchers, specialists in export-import activities, retail, and government agencies. The results can be used in further scientific research and recommendations to stimulate Ukraine's participation in global food value chains.
