MECHANISM FOR REGULATING THE MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS MARKET IN UKRAINE

Abstract

Subject. Mechanism for regulating the meat and meat products market in Ukraine. Purpose. The analysis of the regulatory mechanism of the meat and meat products market in Ukraine and the substantiation of scientific recommendations and proposals for its improvement. Methods. The study uses general scientific and special methods: the dialectical method; the method of systemic generalization; the economic and statistical method – for processing and analyzing statistical data and examining the development trends of the meat and meat products market; the tabular method – for visualizing and summarizing the research results; and the abstract-logical method – for formulating conclusions. Results. The article analyzes the mechanism for regulating the meat and meat products market in Ukraine and identifies its instruments at various stages of the production and distribution chain. It was found that despite numerous support measures, the raw material base of the meat and meat products sector continues to decline, particularly cattle production. Only the poultry meat sector has been able to effectively increase its production volumes. The article analyzes differences in poultry and beef production that led to the success of one sector and the decline of the other. The main problematic areas for the effective and competitive development of the meat and meat products market were identified. The article substantiates scientific recommendations and proposals for improving the regulatory mechanism of the meat and meat products market. Scope of results. The results of the study have a scientific and practical nature; they can serve as a source of scientific information for specialists in government authorities, economists, researchers, university lecturers, postgraduate students, and undergraduates.
