TWIN TRANSITION IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY: GLOBAL EXPERIENCE AND IMPLEMENTATION IN UKRAINE

Abstract

Subject. The subject of the research is the study of the features of transformation processes in the food industry related to the " twin" green and digital transition, as well as the generalization of best foreign and domestic practices in the use of digitalization achievements by industrial enterprises and the dissemination of innovative environmental solutions to increase the competitiveness of the food industry. Purpose. The purpose of the work is to study foreign experience in the use of digital technologies in the food industry in order to substantiate ways to overcome the gaps in digitalization and green transformation of the industry. Methods. The paper uses a number of methods: analysis and synthesis to study transformational processes in the industry and to justify changes in its development priorities; comparison and generalization when systematizing and combining key factors of digital transformations in the industry and achieving sustainable development, increasing the efficiency of the industry and reducing the impact on the environment; structural and logical approach to clearly define the stages of the study from taking into account the international experience of disseminating innovative solutions for sustainable development in the food industry to developing recommendations for Ukrainian food industry enterprises on wthe ays to overcome gaps and successfully achieve the dual transition. Results. The paper reveals the features of transformational shifts in the food industry under the influence of geoeconomic processes that shape changes in the global market and affect the processes related to the digital and green transformation of the industry, as well as its technological and innovative renewal. The experience of leading world companies in the use of digital technologies in the food industry is highlighted and the potential benefits of digitalization of the industry are identified. It is substantiated that the digital transition in conjunction with the green will contribute to the optimization of food production and increase the transparency, automation and analytics of transformation processes. The best European practices in the dual transition for the food industry are presented, indicating the features of the transition when applying various types of digital solutions introduced in the industry. Taking into account European practices, it is proposed to expand the toolkit for supporting digital technologies and innovative solutions for sustainable development by introducing programs for the development and implementation of digital technologies, implementing digital transformation strategies in the industry, and introducing a systemic approach when forming state industrial policy regarding the interaction of digital and green transformation. Scope of results. The results of the study can be used by authorities to improve the regulatory framework and approaches to developing state industrial policy in order to accelerate the formation of a coordinated policy of green and digital transition in industry through the dissemination of digital and innovative solutions for sustainable development.
