ALTERNATIVE MODELS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATION PROCESSES IN THE AGRO-FOOD SECTOR IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

Subject. Scientific and applied principles for the formation of models for the development of integration processes in the agri-food sector. Purpose. Based on the development and generalization of conceptual approaches to the development of integration processes in economic systems, identify effectively operating models of integration processes in the agricultural sector of the Ukrainian economy. Methods. The study used general scientific research methods: monographic – to analyze the development of integration processes in the agro-food sector; abstract-logical method – to substantiate the categorical apparatus, the specifics of creating integrated associations and business models of various types; systemic generalization – to systematize business integration models in the agri-food sector and substantiate the conclusions; analytical groupings – to systematize business integration models; graphical method – to demonstrate the typical organizational structure of a cluster association and classify integration models. Results. It has been established that the business models of many integrated organizations in the agri-food sector are the result of a long historical process, during which a mechanism for interaction between components was created, taking into account their specific characteristics and varying degrees and depths of integration. It has been substantiated that the primary reason for company integration is growth, which can manifest itself in various ways – through market share, achieving synergies, eliminating competitors, diversifying activities, geographic expansion, controlling value chains, implementing innovations, and transferring knowledge. A classification of business integration models in the agri-food sector has been developed. A typical organizational model for a cluster association has been developed. Examples of effective business models have been identified that can be considered inclusive, as they eliminate barriers to the development of small agricultural producers. The most common of these currently are cluster associations, which, through partnerships, integrate small family farms, agricultural enterprises, and processing enterprises. Scope of results. Theoretical, methodological and applied provisions on models of alternative development of integration processes in the agro-food sector in the context of globalization can become a source of scientific information in further scientific research and be used by researchers in the economic profile, teachers, and applicants for higher education.
