Subject. Dispersion analysis is evaluated by the quantitative ratio of particles of different sizes. Based on the results of the analysis, it is possible to draw conclusions about the dispersion of various suspensions, emulsions and powdery materials, as well as to carry out their classification. Purpose. The purpose of the work was to conduct an analytical evaluation of the effectiveness of the most used methods of researching the dispersed composition of particles of suspensions of intermediate products of sugar production. Methods. The analysis and monitoring research was carried out using methodological approaches that are used in domestic and international practice. Results. The analysis and selection of the most suitable methods of researching the dispersed composition of particles of suspensions of intermediate products of sugar production was performed. Among the analyzed methods are sieve analysis, sedimentation analysis, conductometric methods, microscopic methods, chromatographic methods, acoustic methods, optical methods. Each of these methods of analysis of dispersed composition is based on a certain physical principle and has special methods of sample preparation. Different forms of particles are included in the calculation model. Of all the above-mentioned methods for measuring particle sizes, optical methods based on laser diffraction or small-angle light scattering can be considered the most effective – quite common methods for determining particle sizes. With this method, it is possible to measure particle sizes in a wide range. The method is quite operational, as the measurement takes about 20 seconds. Scope of results. The application of the modern method of laser dispersion analysis will allow to study semi-products of sugar production and auxiliary materials at almost all stages of the technological process of purification of raw juice.
