The subject of the research is a set of theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of innovation and investment activity of food industry enterprises to ensure its technical modernization and increase competitiveness. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the formation and use of innovation and investment support for the technical modernization of the food industry to increase its competitiveness in the domestic and world markets. Methods applied: dialectical for knowledge of processes and phenomena; monograph for the analysis of scientific achievements of scientists on competitiveness and directions of its improvement; empirical for a comprehensive assessment of the current state of innovation and investment support of the food industry of Ukraine; comparative analysis to determine and analyze the performance of the technical support and to assess the quality of growth of the technical armament of the food industry; graphic for visual display of regression dependencies. Research results. The indices of the technical support of the food industry are determined, the technical equipment of labor in the food industry of Ukraine is evaluated. The method of correlation-regression analysis substantiates the existence of a direct moderate linear relationship between the change in capital investment and the increase in net income from the sale of products in the industry of Ukraine and individual food enterprises. It is found that food processing enterprises, including large companies, lack systematic measures for innovative development, and innovation activity is very low. The volume of investments attracted by enterprises is hardly used in the development and implementation of innovations. In such circumstances, an additional investment of 1% of capital investment in the Ukrainian industry is capable of providing only 0.292% increase in the net income from the sale of industrial products. A small share of the cost of innovation in the investment structure does not contribute to increasing the competitiveness of either the food industry or the country's economy as a whole. Scope of research results. The results of the research are scientific and practical in nature and can serve as a source of background information on the logistics, innovation and investment support of the food industry. They can form the basis for further scientific research and are used by economists, food and processing industry professionals, government officials, researchers, faculty, graduate students, and university students.
