Top-priority directions of import-substituting of foods in Ukraine

Abstract

During the economic crisis in Ukraine, reduced purchasing power, a sharp rise of the exchange, supporting program of domestic producers and import in all sectors of the economy is becoming increasingly important. The main indicators of food security are considered. The share of food in the commodity structure of foreign trade of Ukraine is studied. Analysis of the monthly dynamics of exports and imports and dependence of import by groups of food is fulfilled. High level dependence of import observed in fish products, exotic fruits, oil, pasta from durum wheat and so on can be observed. It’s proved that the promotion of food independence of the country by substantiating the priority directions of the import substitution in the food market of Ukraine will prevent increasing of price due to exchange differences and reduce dependence on external food suppliers. Perspective direction of Food Policy is the creation of modern import-substituting industries and improving competitiveness of products. The mentioned measures will provide new jobs and additional revenues to the budget.
