Subject of research – economic processes in the food industry of Ukraine. The purpose of the study is to identify mechanisms to regulate the development of the food industry, which will contribute to its effective renewal and growth. Methods applied: dialectical and systematic generalization – for the analysis of the achievements of scientists on the study of the mechanisms of development of the food industry, the analysis of statistical reporting; index – to assess the state of the food industry; structural and logical – to determine areas of influence; comparative – to assess the self-sufficiency of the regions of Ukraine with industrial flour. Research results. The indicators of the food industry activity in the conditions of a pandemic are estimated. Approaches to the study of mechanisms of regulation of the food industry are generalized. A generalized model of spheres of influence has been built to ensure effective mechanisms for regulating the development of the food industry. Mechanisms for regulating the development of the food industry of Ukraine in certain areas of influence have been improved, which will promote effective interaction of all participants in the production and sales chain. The results of ensuring the operation of such mechanisms have been substantiated. The shortcomings of the state statistical reporting are revealed and measures for their elimination are offered. Suggestions for improving the forms of state statistical reporting are provided. Amendments to the legislation on the regulation of the food industry are proposed. On the example of the flour-milling industry, the mechanism of self-sufficiency of regions of Ukraine with flour is given. It was found that the shortcomings of the statistical presentation of information should be eliminated by improving the conceptual framework, more detailed disclosure of food consumption, and so on. Areas of influence to ensure effective mechanisms for regulating the food industry are substantiated. Legislation on food security, interaction of food producers with trade, etc. need to be improved. Scope of research results. Designed for professionals in economics, macroeconomic research and the food industry, researchers, teachers, graduate students and students of higher education. The results can be used in further research on the problems of the food sector. They can be used by specialists and public administration bodies in substantiating the mechanisms of regulating the development of the food industry of Ukraine in the conditions of risks and global challenges.
