ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY IN INTERNATIONAL COMPARISONS: THE INNOVATIVE ASPECT

The new stage of integration processes and the strengthening of global competition stipulates qualitative changes in the global economic structure and global governance, which forces countries to adjust their development strategies, as well as the principles and mechanisms for regulating economic processes. First of all, it concerns food security and addressing the problem of hunger, both at the global and national levels. In this regard, the proposed study is aimed at identifying the features of the methodological approach to assessing global food security and assessing the state of the solution of the global food problem. The main purpose of the article is to justify the place of Ukraine in this process. The article presents the results of the study of the dynamics of food security indicators according to FAO methodology, which characterizes four manifestations of food security: availability, access, stability, and utilization. A significant amount of analytical information obtained on the basis of calculations of more than 20 indices made it possible to assess the state of food security in Ukraine in international comparisons and draw the corresponding conclusions. In particular, political instability and, interconnected with it, rising prices, decreasing solvency of the population, low quality of food create the greatest threat to Ukraine's food security.
