Abstract

Subject. The quality of hemp oil and its output depend on the different extraction methods. Purpose. To analyze data from the literature on scientific studies regarding the use of various methods for extracting oil from hemp seeds and their impact on the output and quality of the final product. Methods. Analytical research methods were used in writing this article. Information from databases, including PubMed, CrossRef, Scopus, and WoS were analyzed. Results. Vegetable oils are one of the main food products for humans, as they contain components important for the body: vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids and minerals. They are widely used in the raw form, for cooking, in cosmetology, medicine, in the production of biodiesel, plastics, products of pest control and many other fields. One of the most valuable in terms of its composition and positive effects on the human body is oil from the seeds of non-narcotic industrial hemp. It is characterized by high nutritional value, as it contains polyunsaturated fatty acids – linoleic (ω-6) and α-linolenic (ω-3) – in an optimal ratio for the human body: 3:1. The extraction method and conditions of processing can significantly affect both the output and quality of hemp oil, due to its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are sensitive to light, oxygen and high temperatures. These factors accelerate oxidation processes and degrade the quality of the final product, necessitating focused research in this area. Scope of results application. Selecting the optimal extraction method and processing parameters for hemp seeds will promote high oil output with maximum preservation of bioactive compounds. This will allow it to be used not only for food purposes as a premium product with high added value, but also in cosmetology and for medical purposes, which will stimulate growth in demand and increase production profitability.
